The Steel Wheels are taking American music traditions on the ride of their lives and bringing audiences with them. Their fire-in-the-belly performances shorten the path between the listener's ear and heart, tingling the spine along the way. Like the Shenandoah Valley that the band calls home, their songs reveal both light and shadow. Building on the chemistry of the band and sensitively skilled instrumentation, lead vocals from multi-instrumentalist Trent Wagler soar and find perfect complement in back-up vocals from mandolin and guitar player Jay Lapp, with bass player Brian Dickel and fiddler Eric Brubaker joining in for heart-stopping four part harmonies. "Americana music at its very best!" said Larry Groce of Mountain Stage.

Though their influences hail from much further south, the Oak Street Ramblers call home the East Side of Madison, WI. A bluegrass band in the tradition of Flatt and Scruggs, Jimmy Martin, and Hazel Dickens, the Oak Street Ramblers specialize in bluegrass stompers, classic country weepers, and originals that, lyrical content aside, wouldn't sound out of place at a barn dance circa 1954. Tight vocal harmonies figure prominently into the Oak Street Ramblers' sound, and the group features no less than five singers ready to take the microphone at any given time. No wonder they have been voted as the favorite Madison-area folk/bluegrass band.
